Mission and Human Development

A story that began in the community of Sant’Agabio

The A.M.S.A. group was founded in 1984 as part of the youth group of the Parish of Sant’Agabio, in Novara.

Originally, A.M.S.A. was primarily concerned with collecting financial aid for human development in Third World missions.

In the years that followed, partly thanks to direct contact with missionaries, the Association came to the conviction that the true Christian mission is centred on Jesus Christ and his message of salvation and liberation for the whole person.

Evangelisation and human development have therefore become the two fundamental aspects of the Association’s work.

‘There can be no true aid to the missions without a genuine change of life on the part of each individual and a deepening of our Christian faith.’

The journey as a group has also been important on a personal level, because it has rooted within the Association the conviction that concrete commitment finds its foundation and reason for being not in an ideology or a generic sense of solidarity, but in faith in Jesus Christ, both Man and God.
