Parish Caritas

A community that serves, welcomes, listens to and supports individuals and families going through difficult times.

In the service of others

A tangible presence in the community

A community that does not serve others cannot be considered as such. This is why a Caritas Group has been active in our parish for many years, made up of volunteers who dedicate themselves to serving those most in need.

Since 2004

The Listening Centre

On 3 May 2004, following a period of preparation, the Listening Centre – Caritas’s main initiative, through which the community ‘listens’ – was launched.

How much loneliness one sometimes endures during life’s darkest moments. It is precisely then that the volunteers come to the rescue: sharing worries, anxieties and difficulties with someone who listens without judging can bring comfort and lighten, at least in part, the burden of the situation.

The issues encountered are many: economic and cultural poverty, housing insecurity, unemployment, excessive utility bills and rent, and social and emotional needs. After listening, the volunteers provide information and guidance, helping people to direct their requests to the relevant authorities in the most appropriate way.

The services

Listening, guidance and practical help

Listening Centre

A private space where people can explain their situation, be welcomed without judgement and work together to find possible avenues of support.

Guidance

Volunteers help you understand which local services and organisations can provide appropriate support for your specific needs.

Clothing Distribution

A local service for individuals and families in need of clothing and essential items.

Food aid

The Food Bank

Another key initiative run by Caritas is the Food Bank. Even today, there are people who cannot even afford the bare necessities.

For this reason, food parcels are prepared and distributed to people referred by the Listening Centre.
